Over 120 graduates today celebrated their graduation from GCU London at a ceremony held in Christ Church, Spitalfields.

The ceremony celebrated academic awards across the disciplines of international banking, finance and risk management; public health; and luxury brand management, and included students graduating from the British School of Fashion.

GCU delivers academic excellence to 20,000 students underpinned by our defining mission as the University for the Common Good to challenge social injustice at home and overseas.

With representatives from more than 50 nations on campus, GCU London supports this mission by bringing enhanced global engagement and international expertise to the University. It is home to The British School of Fashion, which nurtures and inspires fashion management talent and is endorsed by leading brands such as House of Fraser and the John Lewis Partnership.

Today, following an opening address from GCU Chair of Court Mrs Hazel Brooke MBE, graduands were capped and awards conferred by Principal Professor Pamela Gillies CBE FRSE who congratulated graduates and their families.

The GCU London Alumnus of the Year Award was presented to Steffen Bornhoeft by Dean Dr Linda Amrane-Cooper. Since graduating in 2013, Mr Bornhoeft has continued to work internationally, joining the Mintel Group, a world-leading market intelligence agency, where he was promoted to Account Director Germany, Austria and Switzerland within a year of taking up an internship role.

He told today’s graduates: “Two years ago I was a graduate, sitting in the very seats you are in now. I was very happy and very excited. All of your hard work will pay off because this great university has given you the ability to adapt to different situations and a licence to think.”
