Stroke researcher leads UK-wide rehabilitation conference

GCU’s Professor in Neurological Rehabilitation Frederike van Wijck is chairing a two-day online conference as president-elect of the Society for Research in Rehabilitation (SRR).

The conference is a joint venture with the SRR, the British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine (BSRM) and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists for People with Learning Disabilities (ACPPLD).

It is being held today (November 10) and tomorrow (November 11) and GCU staff are invited to attend by registering here – https://www.bsrm.org.uk/events/bsrm-events/profile/arehabilitation-research-practice-and-education-in-the-era-of-covid-19a

The aims of the conference are to raise the profile of rehabilitation and share key lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic that may benefit rehabilitation research, practice and education in future.

Professor van Wijck said: “This conference provides a cross-disciplinary platform to discuss priorities for rehabilitation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.  This could include methods of working in rehabilitation research such as online data collection and how best to use technology for triaging, diagnosing and treatment.

“It will help us create a larger, more comprehensive and international professional rehabilitation network in the aftermath of COVID-19 to continue to provide mutual professional support and exchange of information to those within the network as we enter a new era of living with this virus, with many uncertainties affecting the field of rehabilitation.”
