Glasgow Caledonian’s new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Decent, will outline his vision for the future of research at the University at our annual Research Celebration on May 18.
The Celebration will this year be underpinned by the theme of ‘collaboration’.
Professor Decent will discuss his research journey, highlighting his own collaborations and impact, before presenting his aspirations on growing the strength and diversity of our research and innovation portfolio.
The event is designed to inspire pride in our University identity, and to illustrate the impact we are making in our communities through our research, which is shaped by the Sustainable Development Goals – issued by United Nations in 2015 as a blueprint for peace and prosperity across the planet.
Professor Anita Simmers, Pro-Vice Chancellor Research and Enterprise, said: “We are excited to highlight the power of collaboration, because impactful research is hugely enriched by having diverse perspectives, and partners help ensure research is meaningful, authentic, and respectful.”
Through our own research, Glasgow Caledonian addresses the Sustainable Development Goals via three societal challenges of Inclusive Societies, Healthy Lives and Sustainable Environments.
