Job Websites

The GCU Careers Connect, Jobs and Events service has vacancies that are aimed specifically at university students and graduates, so it is a key website for you to register with. You may also want to register with other general or sector specific websites, and a small selection are listed below.

Part-time jobs

If you are looking for a part-time job, then you will probably have to try a variety of different approaches and use different sources and web sites. The Careers Service will advertise part-time jobs whenever we are notified of these and remember that the Work Experience Hub provides you with a ‘one stop shop’ to a range of on-campus opportunities.

UK employers really value the experiences that students gain from part-time jobs. Working in any sector can demonstrate effective skills in communication, team work, problem solving, planning and organisation and time management.

Remember there will be a limit to the hours that you can work during term time. Examples of the types of part-time jobs that students often find are in the following sectors:

Restaurants and hotels
Call centres
Retail and customer service
Security
Bars and clubs
Caring

You may want to register with a recruitment agency so you need to find out which one might offer the kind of work you are prepared to do.   The Recruitment and Employment Confederation  has a consultancy finder which allows you to search for recruitment consultants by sector (for example accountancy, engineering).
