“Hard work and determination is important, and with continuous perseverance and a willingness to learn you can achieve great success.”

2024 International Fashion Branding graduate Orla Doran shares her insight into life at GCU and life after graduating from university.

I chose to study at GCU because…

I have always had a strong interest in fashion, I had heard great reviews from previous students! The content and the reviews on teaching staff also attracted me to want to study at GCU.

The most important aspect of my university experience has been…

Developing a deep knowledge in the fashion business sector to be able to take with me into my future career as well as building friendships that I will no have for life thanks to studying at GCU.

My biggest lesson learned so far is…

That hard work and determination is important, and with continuous perseverance and a willingness to learn you can achieve great success.

What does it mean to you to study at GCU…

Knowing that engaging with initiatives and projects to benefit university and society helps personal growth. Knowing that you are apart of something larger than just you instills a sense of pride in saying you’re a part of GCU.

I get my inspiration from…

A person who inspires me throughout life is Coco Chanel from her work but also her mindset she has a famous quote which has really encouraged and helped me, saying: “Don’t spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door” which is a daily reminder to focus on solutions rather than problems.

My next steps look like…

I am looking forward to graduating in Summer and completing an internship at ACS company which was only possible through being part of the winning presentation team in our 4th fashion module at GCU.

You are most likely to bump into me…

At Starbucks in the library catching up with friends or on the quiet third floor of the library studying.
