2021 BA (Hons) International Fashion Branding graduate Rachael Adam shares her insight into life at GCU and life after graduating from university.
I chose to study at GCU because…
When looking for courses, I came across BA (Hons) International Fashion Branding and thought it was so unique, while still covering all the elements I was interested in regarding business and the fashion industry. I also have always loved Glasgow and to have a university right in the heart of the city was so perfect for me!
The most important aspect of my university experience has been…
The practical knowledge surrounding the industry has been the most valuable. Classes consisted of a good balance of relevant and modern theoretical aspects alongside creative and practical projects within the fashion-based modules. I also enjoyed the flexibility within some of the non-fashion focused modules to tailor assignments to your interests and industry.
My biggest lesson learned so far is…
GCU offers so many opportunities to study abroad, and I was very lucky to spend a semester in Long Beach, California. Throughout this process I was supported by the exchange team, I had to be very independent within my research beforehand and the full moving process, and this was a great lesson for post-university life.
I’m proud to be part of the University for the Common Good because…
It allowed us to work on some projects with charities of our choice and made us feel like we were making a difference.
I get my inspiration from…
My parents who both work so hard.
My next steps look like…
I have recently started a graduate position in Commercial Management with Frasers Group. Currently, we are undergoing rotations throughout every element of the business, and it’s giving me a great opportunity to find out what I am most interested in and good at within the fashion industry.
