“The university itself set me up for my dream career and supported me, especially in my final year.”

2021 Marketing graduate Megan Farmer shares her insight into life at GCU and life after graduating from university.

I chose to study at GCU because…

I knew so many people who attended GCU and they told me how supported they felt and how enjoyable their time at the university was so that’s why GCU was my first choice. GCU met my needs as all my lecturers were super supportive throughout my degree and I never felt ignored.

The most important aspect of my university experience has been…

The people I met through university definitely changed my life for the better. You meet friends for life at GCU. The university itself also set me up for my dream career and supported me, especially in my final year.

My biggest lesson learned so far is…

I think my biggest lesson from university would be not to procrastinate and it is not a competition! No matter what your outcome is, you have done an amazing job to get your degree. I think I surprised myself with how much I could achieve, getting a first-class degree was never something I envisioned, but it can be done!

I’m proud to be part of the University for the Common Good because…

I’m proud to be a part of this because I feel sometimes university can be a place where you can get lost amongst the mess but GCU do their best to not let you fall behind or get lost. I personally would always help people where I could if they felt confused, lost or needed guidance. I think that’s the most important thing with a university experience is to remember everyone is in the same boat so it won’t be unlikely if you are worried, that someone else also is. You need to support your team mates.

I get my inspiration from…

I find inspiration in a variety of things and people. I’ve always had an optimistic outlook on life and seeing people being proactive and not letting anything stop them is what inspires me to keep going with whatever I want in life.

My next steps look like…

My next steps are creating a career for myself in marketing. You don’t stop learning once you leave university. I’m off to a marketing agency to work with a whole bunch of exciting clients and start building great moments.

You are most likely to bump into me…

Normally I would have been found in the library on the bottom floor relaxing on the big couches during our breaks between lectures!
