“The feedback and support allowed me to thrive in my learning and achieve the grades I did.”

2020 graduate Laura Gordon shares her insight into life at GCU and life after graduating from university.

I chose to study at GCU because…

The great location of the campus, right in the heart of the city and the amazing facilities at the university.

The most important aspect of my university experience has been…

The support offered to me by academic staff and fellow students. The feedback and support allowed me to thrive in my learning and achieve the grades I did. Having a close group of friends in my year was a massive help for all the times we struggled. We were always there to get each other through.

My biggest lesson learned so far is…

To not underestimate what I am capable of. After finishing my degree during lockdown, I have learned how adaptable and resilient I can be. It’s made me all the more proud of my degree.

I’m proud to be part of the University for the Common Good because…

Of the great work that the university does and the ethos behind its mission. I was able to contribute to this through working as a student mentor with the outreach programme. This work has inspired me to continue supporting others and I am now volunteering as a mentor in my current role and will have a school student working alongside me in the summer as part of an internship.

My next steps look like…

Continuing to build my career alongside planning my upcoming wedding.
