“It helped me grow as a person and I am proud to be a GCU alumni.”

2022 Media and Communication graduate Athina Giannakopoulou shares her insight into life at GCU and life after graduating from university.

I chose to study at GCU because…

My course was able to offer me practical work apart from doing essays. It’s important to put your knowledge into practice as this will help you gain experience and also it will prepare for the workplace in the future.

The most important aspect of my university experience has been…

Education, activities that can be offered from uni, social life, but also the local area. With location in the city centre of Glasgow, you have amazing opportunities every day for both entertainment and professional purposes.

My biggest lesson learned so far is…

That everything will be alright in the end. A bit cliché but it’s the truth. Just have a bit of patience and work hard to achieve your goals and it will work out.

I’m proud to be part of the University for the Common Good because…

This university changed my life, taught me so many things and gave me experiences that I would never had if I had stayed in my home country. It helped me grow as a person and I am proud to be a GCU alumni.

I get my inspiration from…

Obviously, my parents, I admire their journey and they motivate me to work hard.

My next steps look like…

After my graduation, my next step is to find a job related to my course and start my career in Glasgow.

You are most likely to bump into me…

Probably a concert. I love events, I haven’t missed a single one!
