2023 Business Management graduate Brooke O’Neill shares her insight into life at GCU and life after graduating from university.
I chose to study at GCU because…
Having considered universities close to me, the modern, open and bright campus at GCU was the most appealing to me and best suited to the environment I enjoy to learn in.
The most important aspect of my university experience has been…
Being a student at GCU has massively improved my confidence. My university experience allowed me to meet new people from lots of different places, collaborate in group projects and reduced my fear of reaching out for help when I needed it.
My biggest lesson learned so far is…
Put yourself out there! There’s no harm in taking a chance and putting yourself forward for something. Even if you don’t get the job you applied for, learning rejection helps you build tolerance and the resistance to keep trying!
I’m proud to be part of the University for the Common Good because…
I have felt part of a community at the university. Knowing I have been part of something which values diversity and sustainability makes me feel proud to be a student at GCU.
I get my inspiration from…
My family who have supported and motivated me through my four years at university. Particularly watching my older sister, who graduated with a first-class degree has inspired me to become successful like her. Both the lecturers and tutors at GCU helped carry me through my university experience. Their passion for their students to succeed inspired me to be determined and grab every opportunity.
My next steps look like…
After graduating in July, I hope to progress into a post graduate job in digital marketing. I always enjoyed the marketing modules during my degree, particularly digital and social media marketing. This definitely helped me to decide my future career choice.
You are most likely to bump into me…
I plan to stay in Glasgow for the time being. However, I would love for my future career to take me to new places around the world. For the meantime, you’ll most likely see me in Glasgow. Most likely in Wunderbar singing badly!
