Professor Angela O’Hagan is new Chair of the Scottish Human Rights Commission

 

Professor Angela O’Hagan has been appointed Chair of the Scottish Human Rights Commission.

A past recipient of the prestigious Jo Cox Award for Public Service and Active Citizenship, Professor O’Hagan is Deputy Director of the WISE Centre for Economic Justice at Glasgow Caledonian.

The appointment follows an open recruitment process which sought outstanding candidates with a proven track of promoting human rights.

One of the UK’s leading voices on gender budgeting, Professor O’Hagan is the independent chair of the Equality and Human Rights Budgets Advisory Group and leads our MSc Human Rights.

The Scottish Parliament will endorse the appointment on May 16 and Professor O’Hagan’s six-year term in the role will commence in August.
