“GCU changed my life forever and helped me achieve my dream career.”

2021 Nursing graduate Amanda Graham shares her insight into life at GCU and life after graduating from university.

I chose to study at GCU because…

I chose GCU as I knew it was the best for children’s nursing due to the facilities. I also like how central the university was to the town and how attentive the lecturers were at the open day, especially Anne Weir.

The most important aspect of my university experience has been…

The people I met at uni really made the experience, I made so many new friends and had so much fun. The practical learning facilities for nursing are amazing and all my placements were in such diverse areas which really set me up to be a good nurse.

My biggest lesson learned so far is…

It’s not easy. Uni is not easy at all it’s hard work. You need to give up a lot in life but it’s so worth it in the end.

I’m proud to be part of the University for the Common Good because…

GCU changed my life forever and helped me achieve my dream career.

I get my inspiration from…

My mum. She is a charge nurse and I have always aspired to be like her.

My next steps look like…

I currently work in a neonatal ICU. I’ve also had a job offer in Australia which I will be accepting and hopefully moving next year.
