“GCU has a welcoming atmosphere, and you’ll feel at home here.”

2023 MSc International Tourism and Events Management graduate Kyle Brown shares his insight into life at GCU and life after graduating from university.

I chose to study at GCU because…

It felt like the most natural choice as GCU is in the centre of Glasgow, which means less time for me to travel. I’d say the course content provided variety so you could understand relevant subject areas but also provided a level of depth in the core topics that I wanted to study.

The most important aspect of my university experience has been…

Creating strong bonds with people that I’ve met during my time here. It helps a lot having people to bounce ideas off of and provide motivation on days you might not feel like it. GCU has a welcoming atmosphere, and you’ll feel at home here.

My biggest lesson learned so far is…

I’d say to take one day at a time, getting to the end is worth the struggle. Also, don’t leave things to the last minute, fix the sleep schedule.

I’m proud to be part of the University for the Common Good because…

I think it’s important to be part of a university that focuses on what it can do for the local communities and the general public, whether it’s the research initiatives or the Erase the Grey campaign which focuses on stereotypical attitudes and gender-based violence. It’s an important message to put across and make people aware.

I get my inspiration from…

Wanting to do better for myself and my support network around me.

My next steps look like…

I am exploring career options within digital marketing and social media. Can’t resist a bit of travelling but I’ll probably talk myself into completing a PHD.

You are most likely to bump into me…

At the downstairs café in Waterstones in Sauchiehall Street, would recommend.
